Javier A. Hernandez

Author and activist Javier A. Hernandez’ writings, commentary, and analysis of Puerto Rican politics, policies, culture, history, decolonization, resistance, diaspora, economic development, and the growing independence & sovereignty movement.

Hernandez has written various articles on these issues (in English & Spanish) and has been published in The Hill, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Daily News, The Orlando Sentinel, Latino Rebels, Mano Magazine, and various Puerto Rico-based media such as PRTQ and The Weekly Journal.

Hernandez is also the author of "PREXIT: Forging Puerto Rico's Path to Sovereignty", "Puerto Rico: The Economic Case for Sovereignty", "Desarrollo y Prosperidad: El éxito económico en un Puerto Rico soberano", and "Puerto Rico: Hacia una economía nacional soberana".

Javier earned a B.A. in Political Science & International Relations from Florida International University (FIU); an M.A. in International Communication from The American University (AU); and an M.S. in Education from Lehman College/CUNY. Javier has also earned certificates in Diplomacy of Small States, Emergency Management, Homeland Security Planning, Global Security Issues, and Non-violent Conflict & Civil Resistance. Javier is committed to social justice; cultural activism; indigenous rights; and Puerto Rican decolonization, self-determination, and national sovereignty.
